Hello Parents,

On behalf of PS97Q, The Forest Park School PTA, we would like to introduce ourselves to our PS97 community families.

We are looking forward to meeting all of you and working together in the best interest of our children. We can collaborate together as a team to create a safe and productive environment for all our children.

You can support us by attending our monthly PTA meeting, participate in our fundraisers and volunteering at our events. There are lots of others ways you can be part of our school community:

  • Attend PAC meeting to vote on parent workshops or be part of the team.
  • Attend workshops and events to learn valuable information about our school community

PTA Meeting’s Minutes
November 8th 2023 at 6:30 p.m.

Ms. Mele call this meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. There were 37 parents in attendance
Ms. Mele introduce the PTA Team:
President – Megan Mele
Vice President – Flor Arauco
Treasurer – Mary Vernenile
Secretary – Nacaury Rosario


Principal report:
Mr. Aggoub welcome everyone and introduce Ms. Cruz as our translator for the meeting.
Mr. Aggoub discuss the following:
• Communication – We have multiples ways of communicate with the school, NYC school
account, website, class dojo, parent monthly calendar, teacher’s newsletter, reach out
to Mrs. Ali, your classroom teacher, main office 1 717 849 4870, Assistant Principal Mrs.
O’Connor for Pre-K – 2nd grade, Mrs. Kalogridis 3 – 5 grades and Mr. Aggoub Principal.
• Attendance – School hours 8:00 am – 2:20 p.m. doors will open 7:55 a.m. For breakfast,
doors open at 7:30 a.m. only for students eating school breakfast Kindergarten to fifth
grade. All students are expected to be on time, all children of school age must attend school
legally regardless of immigration status.
• Health and Safety – If sick stay home, report Covid 19 positive, mask are available and all
students must be up to date with immunization.
• Construction update – Exterior modernization expected completion October 2024, noise cap
time is 10:00 p.m. and no work on weekend. Library conversation expected completion February
2024.
• Uniform Policy – We have adapted a uniform policy starting 2023 – 2024 and we expect
all children to wear their uniform.
• Breakfast – Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for students having breakfast kindergarten – 5th grade.
• Forms – All forms must be updated or fill out, lunch forms, blue cards, media consent form and
immunization.
• Monthly Calendar- look out for upcoming events.
Mr. Aggoub ask if there are any question, no one had questions.

President business:
We would like to start a School Store for students during the lunch period.
To vote on -$500.00 to start the school store. Approved by Maribel Ramos and Karina Sanchez
To order a pin press to use for student of the month, $150.00 Approved by Karina Sanchez and
Kristen Elfers.
To have four holiday basket raffle for during the year, $200.00 (50.00 per holiday)
Holiday boutique in December to vote on $500.00 for the boutique
Breast cancer donation for the school to reach a $100.00, to vote on $70.00, approved by
Maribel Ramos and Karina Sanchez
Thanksgiving gift cards, each class will have one winner $25.00 by 25 classes, vote on $625.00,
approved by Kristen Elfers and Maribel Ramos

December 13th 2023 at 6:30 p.m.


Call to order at 6:35 p.m. There were 28 parents in attendance
PTA President Megan Mele welcome everyone and introduce her team, Mary Vernenile and
Flor Arauco. She informed the parents that the PTA Secretary Ms. Rosario resigned effective
December 1st, 2023. Elections will be held next PTA meeting on January 10th 2024.
Ms. Mele told the parents in order to respect their time, the last PTA meeting minutes will be
shared on class dojo and the website in both languages English and Spanish.


Principal’s Report:
Mrs. O’Connor Assistant Principal presented the Principal’s report, She welcome everyone and
discuss the following topics:
• Communication – We have multiples ways of communicate with the school, NYC school
account, website, class dojo, parent monthly calendar, teacher’s newsletter, reach out
to Mrs. Ali, your classroom teacher, main office 1 717 849 4870, Assistant Principal Mrs.
O’Connor for PreK – 2nd grade, Mrs. Kalogridis 3 – 5 grades and Mr. Aggoub Principal.
• Attendance – School hours 8:00 am – 2:20 p.m. doors will open 7:55 a.m. For breakfast,
doors open at 7:30 a.m. only for students eating school breakfast Kindergarten to fifth
grade. (PreK eat breakfast in the classroom) All students are expected to be on time, all
children of school age must attend school legally regardless of immigration status.
Attendance team will call parents when children are late or absent. Schedule vations
when school are closed. Children who are absent frequently struggle academically.
• Uniform Policy – We have adapted a uniform policy starting 2023 – 2024 and we expect
all children to wear their uniform.
• Monthly Calendar- look out for upcoming events, First grade gingerbread house,
Kindergarten gingerbread hous, Parent mystery reader, Holiday read aloud, ESL classes
and 2nd grade gingerbread house

• Last day of school before the winter recess is Friday December 22nd and we return on
Tuesday January 2nd 2024.
• Mrs. O’Conner ask if they were any questions and there were no questions.


President’s Business:
• Ms. Mele apologies for not opening the School store in December, but will start in
January two day for the week, Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Thanksgiving raffle was a success, Total $242.00 expenses of $50.00 for the basket with
a profit of $192.00. Congratulations to Jackson Li for being the winner of the
Thanksgiving basket.
• Some photos came in today and the rest will be in before the break. Profit for picture
day $2,813.00
• Holiday boutique went well, all students had an opportunity to shop, thank you parents
for allowing your child to shop.
Ms. Mele ask the parents to approve 200.00 for the Ms. Stuart for pencils and stickers for
students – motion to approved by Ms. Ramos and second by Karen
Ms. Mele ask the parents to approve 200.00 for a cart to use for the school store of $200.00 –
motion to approved by Ms. Pachucho and second by Ms. Ramos

Ms. Mele Thank everyone for their support and remind parents next PTA meeting will be on
January 10th 2024 elections for the Secretary Seat.

PTA Meeting Minutes
January 10th, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.

Ms. Mele called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. There were 48 parents in attendance
Ms. Mele welcome everyone and introduce her team:
• Flor Arauco – Vice President
• Mary Vernenile – Treasurer
• Everyone were in attendance


Ms. Arauco, Vice President read the last meeting minutes in Spanish and Ms. Barreto read the minutes in English,
approved by Maribel Ramos and Veronica Argueta.


Principal’s Report:
Mr. Aggoub welcomed everyone and introduced Ms. Barreto as our translator for the meeting. Mr. Aggoub discuss the
follow:
• Communication – We have multiple ways of communicating with the parents, but with the emphasis on class dojo,
every parent should have class dojo from their child’s teacher and the notification should be ON to get instant alerts
from the school.
• Attendance – School hours 8:00 am – 2:20 p.m. doors will open 7:55 a.m. Breakfast starts, doors open at 7:30 a.m., only
for students eating school breakfast Kindergarten to fifth grade. All students should be on time. Our data show lower
grade students are absent frequently.
• General Response Protocol (GRP) – Schools train and drill all staff and students in the GRP, which describes what to do
in an Evacuation, Shelter-In or Lockdown. There was a Shelter-IN in place by the NYPD on Tuesday January 9 due to
incident on Jamaica Avenue & 85th Street, message set out on class dojo and website to parents and official letter was
backpack today (1/10/24)
• Uniform Policy – We have adapted a uniform policy starting 2023 – 2024 and we expect all children to wear their
uniform.
• Monthly Calendar- Ms. Ali creates the parent monthly calendar with events for the parents. Look out for upcoming
events.
• Mr. Aggoub asked if there were any questions and there were no questions.


PTA election for the position Secretary:
Ms. Mele open the floor for the position of Secretary, there was one parent who nominated herself Maribel Ramos
Ms. Mele cast one unanimous vote for Maribel Ramos for the position PTA Secretary, Ms. Ramos introduce herself and said
she is very happy to be part of the PTA Team. Ms. Mele congratulated and welcome Ms. Ramos to the PTA.

 

President’s Business:
• Ms. Mele said the holiday boutique went well, all students had an opportunity to
shop, thank you parents for allowing your child to shop. Fundraiser report –
Gross - $1.698.00 Expenses - $744.06, and profit - $953.40
• PTA store open yesterday, students was happy about the school store and shop
• There will be a valentine’s raffle, starting on 2/1 and end on 2/13, 2 tickets for $1.00,
raffle will draw on valentine’s Day 2/14/24.
• Valentine’s boutique on February 8(only one day) more information will follow.
No school store on the week for the valentine’s boutique.
• Ms. Mele voted on $700.00 to buy items for the valentine’s boutique, approved
by Kristen Elfers and Fanny Pachucho

Ms. Mele call the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. There were 27 parents in attendance


Ms. Mele welcome everyone and introduce her team:

Ms. Kalogridis welcomed everyone and discuss the follow:
• Communication – We have multiple ways of communicating with the parents, but with the emphasis on class dojo,

Monday February 26th at 8:00 a.m.
• Mrs. Kalogridis asked if there were any questions and there were questions about afternoon program the start and end
dates.
• Ms. Kalogridis thank everyone for attending and thank Ms. Ali & Ms. Cruz

President’s Business:
• Ms. Mele said the Valentine’s Boutique went well and make a profit of $336.12
• Valentine’s Raffle, thank all the parents who participated, made a profit of $79.00
• The winning ticket number for the valentine’s raffle was 425859
• Paint night profit $290.00
• Spring pictures coming soon, using a new company – Life Touch, dates March 11th & 12th
• Voted on first grade trips - $700.00 – approved by Ms. Bass and Ms. Cruz
• Voted on second grade trips - $700.00 – approved by Ms. Brennan & Ms. Bass
